Organised by the Rotary Club of Stockport Lamplighter, this is the sixth Heatons Open Gardens day and returns by popular demand. Amongst this year's gardens we have some old favourites, some new ones, a quirky pop-
Some of the gardens will be selling plants and refreshments for charities of their own choice. These are mentioned in the descriptions in the programme. Others might have music or entertainment. The Crown Inn on Vale Close (off Didsbury Road) will be serving Sunday lunches, teas and coffees and alcoholic beverages, and other eateries can be found along the route.
Enjoy the day, and let's hope for some sunny weather!
Up to his sad and untimely death in 2016, John was the owner of Blagg's Hardware on Heaton Moor Road, and was described by many as "that lovely man". We at Lamplighter owe him a great debt for the work he did for the Heatons Open Gardens and many other Rotary projects. His Rotary roles required many skills, one of which was to be super organised, as he was when producing the Open Gardens programmes. He had a quirky sense of humour and there was often laughter whenever he was around.
We would like to say a huge "Thank You" to all the gardeners taking part, whose hard work is a tribute to John's love and dedication to Rotary and The Heatons Open Gardens. Proceeds from the day will be donated to two charities close to John's heart -
John's friend, Phil Rowbotham, has designed the Open Gardens leaflets and helped with the programme, for which we are extremely grateful.
